And I didn't know about the Thanksgiving meal given to the Union troops in 1864. Fascinating and moving. As it happen, we just saw the film Lincoln. It was magnificent! It takes place in 1865 and is the story of passing the 13th Amendment to the Constitution -- to abolish slavery. The trade-off? Had to spend it at my brother-in-law's house where they are all longhorn fans. *sigh* The 2 worst places to be on Thanksgiving for an Aggie are Austin and a longhorn fan's house...Have a happy Thanksgiving, oh, and Gig'em Aggies!<br /><br />Caroline<br />"Beat the Hell Outta t.u.!"Carolinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02440331516671118735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8610655125390402869.post-27098434386686546192009-11-24T22:11:57.782-06:002009-11-24T22:11:57.782-06:00Just when I thought we could be friends, I find ou...Just when I thought we could be friends, I find out that you are an Aggie! I have to say that I am a UT graduate. When I lived in League City, I had a neighbor who was an Aggie, and I was wearing my UT t-shirt the day I moved in. Her black lab was wearing an Aggie doggy outfit, and she was barking at my UT shirt! Of course, I have to admit that I don't bleed burnt orange like many people who go to UT because I was only there for grad school. Perhaps if I had went to undergrad there, and I didn't currently live in Baton Rouge where everyone bleeds purple and gold, I could bleed burnt orange. Needless to say, it's very hard to bleed burnt orange in Baton Rouge.Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10613226474582263185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8610655125390402869.post-79003851221066102572009-11-24T19:02:47.578-06:002009-11-24T19:02:47.578-06:00My grandfather did drink Wild Turkey on Thanksgivi...My grandfather did drink Wild Turkey on Thanksgiving...lol Ours were the traditional and I will be posting some 1950's photos tomorrow. Thank you for the idea, though I'm not sure my family will share the sentiment because guess what I'll be talking to them about on Thanksgiving day now! :)Herstoryanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10815842259130817555noreply@blogger.com
